Engineering Draughtsman

Due to continued growth, WellGear is seeking an experienced, skilled, and motivated Engineering Draughtsman to join our expanding and dynamic team.

WellGear is a fast-growing engineering business focused on delivering innovative and advanced solutions for well projects. This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a highly motivated, close-knit team and play a key role in supporting the company’s continued growth and development.

Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting WellGear’s ongoing operations through the preparation and development of engineering designs and technical drawings. Working closely with the wider engineering team, you will contribute to the delivery of high-quality, practical engineering solutions across a range of well projects.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for a range of engineering design and draughting activities, including but not limited to:

  • Producing detailed engineering and concept designs.
  • Conducting offshore and onshore site surveys.
  • Producing technical drawings and designs for manufacture and fabrication.
  • Supporting and managing the manufacturing and fabrication process.
  • Working closely with, and coordinating, third-party engineers and suppliers.
  • Producing detailed 3D layouts, rig-up drawings and associated engineering documentation.
  • Working collaboratively with Project Managers to implement design changes and modifications.
  • Actively using and maintaining the company’s equipment management and certification systems.
  • Ensuring all designs and drawings are produced to a high standard and in line with project requirements.

About You

  • Ability to manage workloads effectively and work to tight deadlines.
  • Self-motivated, organised and able to work effectively under pressure.
  • Previous experience using cloud-based certification or equipment management systems.
  • Proficiency in Solid Edge and/or SolidWorks.
  • Experience working with structural fabrications and machining.
  • Good knowledge and understanding of welding and fabrication processes.
  • Strong computer literacy, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a close-knit team.

Education

A degree in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Design, or a related discipline would be advantageous.

Experience

Previous experience in a similar engineering design or draughting role is preferred. Experience within fabrication, manufacturing, offshore engineering or the well services sector would be highly advantageous.
